First-Year Teachers Get Classroom Necessities
Fayetteville, NC – Close to 150 Beginning Teachers took advantage of the opportunity this week to shop for 10 FREE classroom supply items in Cumberland County Schools’ (CCS) Beginner Teacher Store.
A steady flow of first-year teachers, who have less than six-months experience, stopped by the Store, located in the Driver Education Building, to pick up bulletin board borders, cut-outs, storage bins, math manipulatives and much more.
“Shopping at the Store was a wonderful experience,” said General McJimson III, an American History teacher at Seventy-First High School. “I picked up a lot of great products for my classroom.”
CCS’ Beginning Teacher Support Coordinator Kari Grates said that McJimson joined others in their overwhelmingly positive comments about the Store. “They (Beginning Teachers) have been excited, thrilled and appreciative for items to get their classrooms ready, ” said Grates. “The first days of school and preparation for students is daunting, even for veteran teachers, so the idea of having a store that can help get teachers prepared with supplies and moral support is one of a kind.”
