BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Coach: Beth Sizemore
The purpose of the BATTLE OF THE BOOKS program is to help middle school students foster a lifelong love of reading. Students are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors. To be a member of the BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM, students must like to read and be good at recalling information from what they have read. The team practices throughout the school year and competes in the Spring against other middle schools in Cumberland County. The winner of the county competition continues to the regional level competition. -

D.O.L.L.S. mission is to educate, empower, and promote positive goals in young ladies at Hope Mills Middle School. Our goal is to provide real and relatable life experiences in the areas of education, occupation, and making healthy personal growth choices. Young ladies involved in this group will develop self-confidence, learn life-skills, practice new behaviors, and better understand how to deal with the many problems that life presents. They will also practice leadership skills and be challenged to make positive changes in the school setting as well as being a positive influence among their peers . We hope to encourage each young lady to be a “Leader” and to choose her own lane of success. -

F.F.A.
Faculty Adviser:
“Future Farmers of America” was founded by a group of young farmers back in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. They taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting– it’s a science, it’s a business and it’s an art.FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways.
So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too.
