Cumberland Family Academy Session: Academic Success: Supporting the Learning Needs of Kindergartners

  • We know that learning is best supported when teachers and families work together. This pre-recorded session provides an overview of the NC Early Learning Inventory (NC ELI) and describes ways that families can be involved. As an observation-based formative assessment, the NC ELI is administered by Kindergarten teachers during the first 60 days of school to create a snapshot of each child’s early learning development in key areas. The information collected gives teachers and families an ongoing understanding of the strengths and needs of each child. Teachers use this understanding to meet specific learning needs. Families will have an understanding of the process as well as family activities that can support their child’s progress.
