Academy of Scholars
Advisor: Lori Coleman
The Academy of Scholars is a Cumberland County Schools-based organization geared toward college-ready students. Students meet once per month at various locations to discuss a multitude of subjects ranging from scholarships, financial aid, transitioning to college, and lifestyle issues.
Requirements: The top 20 students in the Senior Class are invited.

Art Club
Advisor: John Kaiser
The purpose of the art club is to foster interest in visual arts and for students to have a place to share interests and compare/contrast works.
Requirements: Any interested students should see Mr. Kaiser in room B115.

Asian-American Student Association
Advisor: Todd McCabe
The Asian American Student Association is a club that strives to educate others on Asian cultures, brings awareness to issues affecting Asian Americans, and unites Asian Americans at Jack Britt to form a tight-knit community. Monthly meetings consist of a lot of hands-on activities and discussions!
Requirements: You have to be willing to learn and actively participate. Anyone is welcome to join! Meetings occur every month.

Astronomy Club
Advisor: Barry Duff
The Jack Britt Astronomy Club focuses on increasing accessibility and sponsoring a rich community revolving around the expansive topics of Astronomy. Our club participants engage in discussions and direct explorations of astronomy concepts such as cosmology, astrophysics, history of observatories, constellations, black holes, black matter, and many other related topics. This organization provides opportunities for students to explore, actively engage with the material being studied, share knowledge, acquire information and understanding of research topics, and volunteer in communities. There is no fee to be a member of the club, we meet once per
month, and require members to obtain at least 10 volunteer hours. -
Automotive Performance Club
Advisor: Justin Flowers
The Automotive Performance Student Association is an organization for students who love everything about cars. The purpose of the club is to educate students on the various functions of cars and the different aspects of the car community. Such factors include maintenance, modification, and research. Students should feel welcome to discuss topics pertaining to the car industry and community.

BSU - Black Student Union
Advisor: Gretchen Walker & Brenda Winfrey-Knox
Promote a positive representation of the Black community on and off the Jack Britt High School campus. We strive to promote proactive leadership, community outreach, and student empowerment. All students are welcome to join us.

Buccaneer Buddies
Advisor: Stephanie Walsh
The purpose of the Buccaneer Buddies Club is to promote friendship and acceptance between students with and without disabilities at JBHS. The club will allow opportunities to develop life skills, leadership, social skills, and community involvement. For those students who are seeking volunteer hours for various service organizations, this is a great opportunity to earn service hours. Students will have the opportunity to participate in Unified Bowling in the winter and Unified Sports Track and Field in the spring with appropriate paperwork.

Chess
Advisor: Tiffany Falgione
Chess club is designed to give students an opportunity to learn the game of chess, improve their chess skills, and to enjoy competition against peers. Novice players will be taught the basic rules, the value of pieces, and how to checkmate. More experienced players will learn different opening and defense strategies, and various tactics, and will be allowed to challenge themselves by solving chess puzzles. While students will have the chance to measure their progress through wins and losses against peers, our main focus will be on encouraging food sportsmanship and having fun.
Requirements: Everyone is welcome! All students must have signed
parental consent. -
DECA - Distributive Education Clubs of America
Advisor: Tiffany Falgione, & Nishaylen Daniels
DECA is a student organization through the marketing education program. The organization is designed to extend learning from the classroom to the real world. DECA promotes four areas of personal development for students:
- Vocational Understanding (VU) – knowledge-based experience learned through academic competitions and conferences.
- Civic Consciousness (CC) – community service activities created and executed monthly.
- Leadership Development (LD) - experience gained by committee members and executive board members.
- Social Intelligence (SI) - vast opportunities for networking with fellow students and community leaders and opportunities to learn event management skills.
DECA is a student-driven organization.
Requirements: Students must have taken or be currently enrolled in a CTE course with marketing fundamentals. There are state and national dues, and enrollment paperwork required. There are district, state, and national competitions each year, as well as various conferences for leadership development.
Dues: $20.00

Drama Club
Advisor: Alease Timbers
The JBHS Drama Club is a service organization focused on learning about, practicing, and sharing the love of theater and all of its arts with the student body and community surrounding Jack Britt. The Drama Club partakes in theatrical-based workshops and produces various theatrical pieces throughout the school year, depending on the community's opportunities. As well as performing in the spring CCS Theater Showcase, usually in March. Actors, singers, and technicians are welcome!
Requirements: All students are welcome to participate.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
Advisors: Jennifer Dobbins & Patricia Fairell-Richardson
The purpose of FBLA is to provide, as an integral part of the instructional program, additional opportunities for secondary students (grades 9–12) in business and/or
business-related fields to develop vocational and career-supportive competencies and to promote civic and personal responsibilities. The specific goals of FBLA are to:
• Develop competent, aggressive business leadership;
• Strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work;
• Create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise;
• Encourage members in the development of individual projects that contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community;
• Develop character, prepare for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism;
• Encourage and practice efficient money management;
• Encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty;
• Assist students in the establishment of occupational goals; and
• Facilitate the transition from school to work.Membership:
FBLA membership shall consist of members of chartered local chapters. These members shall hold membership in their state and national chapters. Individual members shall be recognized only through a state chapter of FBLA except, in the case where there is no state chapter, the member shall be recognized by the national office.Dues: $20.00

FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Advisor: Lori Coleman
The purpose of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes – FCA, is for a fellowship of Christian students to meet together at an alternate time and location for extra-curricular athletics/activities and church. It will provide a safe space for students in our community to share God’s word. The group will participate in devotion, prayer, Night to Shine, fellowship, discussions, and community service.
Requirements: Everyone is welcome - students do not have to be athletes to attend. No annual dues, but there may be costs for a club T-shirt.

History Club
Advisor: Jonathan Rupert
The Jack Britt History Club focuses on increasing awareness of history and its impact on the modern world. Our club participants will engage in discussions and direct explorations of varied historical topics. This organization provides opportunities for students to explore and actively engage with the material being studied as well as sharing knowledge, acquiring information and understanding research topics. This club will be a stepping stone for students to become honored as members of Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society. Students do not have to join Rho Kappa to be active members of the History Club, but you will need to be in the History Club to qualify for Rho Kappa.

HOSA - Health Occupations Students of America
Advisors: Sandra Jones & Betsey Vera
HOSA is a national organization that promotes leadership skills and careers in the healthcare field. Regional, state and national leadership conferences are held yearly. Community involvement and volunteerism are also encouraged.
Requirements: Any student who plans to pursue a healthcare career may join.
Dues: $25 per school year

International Club
Advisors: Fabiola Ramos & Wendy Soltero
The International Club is a group of international and non–international students. The club’s goals are to introduce the students to other cultures through enrichment activities, support international students, provide networking opportunities through social and cultural events, socialize, and volunteer at various events in school and around Fayetteville. Our monthly meeting typically includes a country presentation from a club member and planning for upcoming events. We volunteer at the local international festival. *The activities will be decided on by the club officers and advisors and approved by the school’s administration.
Requirements: Failure to attend meetings or follow through with duties will discontinue your membership in the International Club.
Dues: $25.00 (club membership dues must accompany the application).
