CCS Strengthens Community Ties with First Key Communicators Meeting of the School Year

September 6, 2024

Yesterday, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) held the first Key Communicators meeting for the 2024-2025 school year at the CCS Central Services building. This meeting marked the continuation of a growing program led by the district's Communications and Community Engagement Department.

The Key Communicators Program, launched in 2023, is an initiative aimed at fostering open, transparent and meaningful communication between the school district and the broader community. During the meeting, members of the group came together to discuss vital topics, share updates and enhance their role as liaisons between CCS and the communities they represent.

"The Key Communicators Program allows us to strengthen our connection with the community by ensuring that we are actively listening to their concerns and sharing accurate information," said Associate Superintendent for Communications and Community Engagement Dr. Lindsay Whitley. "It’s a valuable partnership that helps us ensure educational excellence for every student."

Group participants include those who are deeply rooted in the community. The Key Communicators group plays a key role in ensuring that the voices of families, students and community members are heard and addressed by district leadership. By enhancing two-way communication, the group helps build trust and strengthen relationships between CCS and its stakeholders.

As the school year progresses, the Key Communicators will continue to meet regularly to discuss district initiatives, share community insights and offer feedback. This ongoing engagement helps CCS better serve its diverse population while fostering a culture of openness and inclusion.
