  • TRANSGENDER AWARENESS WEEK: NOVEMBER 13 – 19, 2024 

    This one-week celebration occurs each year leading up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), which occurs each year on November 20 to memorialize victims of violence. 

    Be an Ally - Support Trans Equality

  • Research shows that LGBTQ+ students are:

    • Showing higher levels of discrimination
    • 2-3 times as likely to be bullied and excluded
    • Twice as likely to be physically assaulted Almost 5 times more likely to miss school
    • Almost 5 times more likely to attempt suicide-even higher for transgender people
    • linked to much higher rates of substance abuse, depression, and anxiety
    • Choosing (14%) not to go to college when harrassed frequently

     

    5 Things You Can Do to Support Your LGBTQ Students:

    1. Post Safe Space Signs.
    2. Start an LGBTQ Organization at Your School.
    3. Stand Up Against Homophobia.
    4. Integrate LGBTQ Topics into the Curriculum.
    5. Pursue Professional Development
