Questions and Answers about 504 Plans

Question: What course of action do parents have when they believe the 504 plan is not being followed?

Answer:  When a parent expresses concerns that the 504 plan is not being followed in a particular class, the parent should talk with the teacher(s) in whose class accommodations are required.  If after talking with the teacher the parent still has concerns, he/she may contact the school’s Student Services Team chairperson to request a meeting to review the Section 504 plan.  If parental concerns about implementation of the 504 plan still exists, the parent should contact the schools’ principal.  The Cumberland County Schools’ Section 504 coordinator may be contacted if the concern is still unresolved.
