Cumberland County Schools Announces May's Committed Community Support Award Winner

Cumberland County Schools (CCS) announces the May winner of the Committed Community Support Award! Earl Vaughan, Jr., a dedicated supporter of CCS and long-time sports writer of over 40 years was selected as the recipient of the Committed Community Support Award.
The Committed Community Support Award is awarded to an individual or group for their selfless dedication to supporting the school system. May's awardee, Earl Vaughan, Jr., has helped to tell the stories of Cumberland County Schools from the sidelines.
Vaughan has contributed to news outlets such as the Fayetteville Observer, City View Magazine, Up & Coming Weekly and more. CCS' Social Work Coordinator, Pamela Story, praised Vaughan's work over the years. "I was delighted as a committee member to select you for this award. It's just a small way of saying thank you for all that you have done and will continue to do in the sports arena," said Story.
When accepting the award, Vaughan spoke about his "why" and shared the driving force behind what he has done in support of CCS. "I dedicate this to the coaches and the kids, because that's what I've worked for and that's what I will continue to support, even in retirement," said Vaughan.
